Redness & Rosacea – A Functional Skin Approach

Redness, flushing, and rosacea are not just surface concerns — they are signs of an underlying imbalance in skin function. At Milk & Honey Skin Clinic, we work with DMK’s philosophy of Remove, Rebuild, Protect, Maintain to restore skin health from the inside out, rather than simply calming visible symptoms. Instead of temporarily soothing redness, we focus on identifying what is driving the inflammation in the first place. This may include compromised barrier function, sluggish lymphatic activity, microbial imbalance, capillary weakness, or internal and environmental triggers that keep the skin reactive. Our treatment approach is structured and corrective. We remove congestion and inflammatory triggers within the skin, rebuild skin structure and function, protect against ongoing damage, and maintain long-term skin resilience and balance. A key treatment in this process for redness and rosacea-prone skin is DMK Alkaline Therapy. Alkaline Therapy is a specialised enzymatic treatment designed to gently raise the skin’s pH in a controlled way. In doing so, it creates an environment where unwanted proteins, congestion, and buildup within the skin can be broken down and removed. This process helps to clear blockages within the follicle and support more efficient skin function, rather than simply masking redness on the surface. By encouraging the skin to operate more efficiently, Alkaline Therapy can help improve circulation, reduce congestion, and support healthier capillary and lymphatic function over time. It is particularly beneficial for rosacea-prone skin where inflammation and stagnation are key contributors. For ongoing support, we may also incorporate targeted DMK formulations such as Red Vein Cream and other advanced skincare designed to strengthen capillaries, support barrier integrity, and reduce reactive flareups. Every product we use is results-driven, science-backed, and selected because it works. From clinical skincare and daily SPF protection to internal support supplements, we utilise the full DMK range — because real skin change requires a complete system, not isolated treatments. At Milk & Honey, we don’t focus on “calming redness” — we focus on correcting the dysfunction behind it, rebuilding skin health, and maintaining long-term stability and confidence in your skin.

FAQs for Redness Treatment

What actually causes rosacea and chronic redness?

There are many known causes for rosacea and redness and there are different causes that affect some clients and not others. Causes include: genetics, barrier dysfunction, immune issues, vascular dysfunctions, demodex mites. Rosacea and redness can also be exacerbated through diet, internal health, medications, environmental and lifestyle factors.

What treatments do you offer for Rosacea and Redness?

At Milk and Honey our goal is always to get the skin healthy and functioning optimally before we start any more advanced modalities. This is usually achieved through our DMK Enzyme therapy and LED treatments. We then will likely move to other advanced treatments such as Laser or Dermapen, depending on your skin's needs. Your therapist will guide you through this – there is no guesswork.

Will Laser make my redness worse?

Laser is a very effective way of helping to reduce redness within the skin. We have a few different options when treating redness, we can cauterise specific capillaries or use low level settings to help heat the epidermis and reduce micro-vascularity.

How quickly do flare-ups calm down?

This is very dependent on the skins condition and the cell health of the skin. Our goal with rosacea and other inflammatory skin conditions is to always reduce the inflammation and strengthen the barrier of the skin so flare ups become less severe and less frequent.

Is this safe for sensitive, thin skin?

At Milk and Honey, we respect the skin and understand inflammation and how to manage it without causing further damage to the skin. We customise all treatments to your skin condition and health and constantly re-evaluate treatment plans.

What lifestyle changes are required?

We will carry out a thorough consultation to help understand your skin. Every client has different triggers and although there are common triggers, not all triggers negatively effect every client. Common known lifestyle and diet changes include:

  • Reducing ‘heating foods’ such as spicy food or known inflammatory foods such as oranges or peanuts.
  • Reducing exposure to direct heat, such as not using heaters on high in the car or home and not using hot water directly on the face.
  • Reducing alcohol, caffeine and smoking levels.
  • Looking at exercise and stress levels and adjusting if a contributing factor.
  • Identifying food intolerances and reducing intake of such foods.
  • Looking at gut health and making necessary adjustments.
  • Using correct skin care and internal supplements to help support the skin.
Will redness return after the programme?

A client who has rosacea or prone to redness and inflammation will likely always have this skin type for life. Our goal is to reduce inflammation long termly and reduce the frequency of breakouts. Treated vessels that have been cauterised will be reduced long termly. If continued lifestyle and topical triggers are managed correctly, your results will also remain.
